Greater Vancouver · neighbourhood guide
A compact, walkable city with a strong community feel.
Overview
Port Coquitlam is smaller and more self-contained than its neighbours, with a downtown core along Shaughnessy Street, family neighbourhoods in Citadel Heights and Mary Hill, and the Traboulay PoCo Trail circling the city.
The essentials
Predominantly detached and townhomes, with newer low-rise condos near downtown. Many homes sit on generous lots by regional standards.
West Coast Express from Port Coquitlam Station; bus connections to Coquitlam Central and the Evergreen Line.
The PoCo Trail, Gates Park, the community centre and a walkable downtown with independent businesses. Riverside access along the Pitt and Coquitlam rivers.
School District 43 (Coquitlam) serves Port Coquitlam. Catchments vary; confirm before relying on a specific school.

FAQ
Usually value and community scale. Similar budgets often buy more space here, with a town feel that some families prefer, at the cost of being a step further from SkyTrain.
It is one of the most sought-after pockets for families, with newer detached homes, parks and schools nearby. Inventory is limited, so timing matters.
